Sounds like millennial’s typical hugot tweet, right? In case you haven’t heard about it, they’re Live Pure Movement’s posts prior to the Live Pure Conference 2016. The event, with the theme “Tadhana: Ang Kwento Nating Dalawa”, was held last October 9 at the SMX Convention Center, where more than 9,000 people gathered for a heartwarming huddle, all for one purpose-to live pure.
The Live Pure Movement
The Live Pure Movement is a Catholic youth movement committed to lead young people to a life of real freedom, true love, and total happiness by living a chaste life. The organization conducts sessions, workshops and events to various institutions, communities and schools to promote life, one that is pure.
The event was graced by a Holy Mass led by Fr. Kune Garganta. After the solemn celebration, the LPCon 2016 officially started through an opening prayer led by Paolo Magtibay. A lyrical dance interpretation was also done by Indayog. After a couple of worship songs in which the crowd cheerfully sang with, Jermer Cruz started his talk about Tadhana. He reminded everyone about labels that others would give them, that they were not as important as how you and the Lord see you.

Surprisingly, Nikki Gil went up the stage and greeted the LPCon crowd. There, she shared her very familiar love story, both from the past and present. She reminded the youth of LPCon of what turned out to be a blessing-in-disguise love story. It was an interesting one, because we all know for a fact that she went on a sad ending with a past lover, but is now obviously happy and content with BJ Albert. Here are what she advised:
Your attitude while waiting should be that of growth. Ayusin mo muna ang relasyon mo sa Diyos.
At first, I was writing my own love story, and not God. It didn’t end well.
As long as you ask Him to restore you, He will be more than happy to give you a fresh start.
God has His own timetable. Hindi rin pare-pareho ang mga love story natin. His timing is different from the world’s timing.
Wag mong gawing batayan ng identity ang relationship. You are at the stage of your life when you should be guarding your heart.
Testimonies of Tadhana
What captured more of the hearts of the audience were testimonies of ordinary people about their own destinies. One is Daryl Aloya, who was once a fraternity member who found hope as a missionary in Paranaque. Joy Abrenio, moreover, shared her story as she has been living overseas, with a culture too different from ours, which is conservative. Her experiences is an eye-opener for the youth who has to learn more about chastity, that the worldly and personal things that we think we need aren’t very much important as how we see them, especially on social media. After the video testimonials, Jo-I Villas shared how we could ACT for Him: accept our brokenness, choose to be better and then trust Him.
Especially for first-timers, it was truly a wonderful experience filled with good music and good words from the best people who could actually influence us. Today’s culture have been molded by the trends, specifically by technology, which we could say that have not brought all things positive and productive. Yet, LPCon has made a way to remind us of our real “tadhana”.
The event sucessfully concluded with Gracenote and Callalily’s performances, who made the crowd more energetic and alive as the night went on.
